Our Vision, Mission, and Values
Our Vision
To challenge and empower the church to feed the world's poor in body, mind, and spirit.
Our Mission
Together in Hope works in collaboration with churches and other faith-based organizations in the United States to partner with churches and other faith-based groups in underserved communities around the world to meet the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of the community. Together in Hope pursues this mission by listening to the needs of the community and empowering the community to meet those needs.
Our Values
Together in Hope believes that:
- All individuals are created by God in the likeness of God and have intrinsic value, regardless of their socioeconomic status or education level; and
- Jesus came into the world to bring life and life abundantly. Therefore, all people are intended to thrive.
Meet our Founders
Diane McGehee, Co-Founder & Director
Diane McGehee founded Together in Hope with her husband, Jack McGehhe, to fund and support projects in the United States and around the world that work for the improvement of the lives of the poor. Pastor of a Filipino Asian-American congregation in Bellaire, Texas, Diane also serves on the Advisory Board for the Duke Center for Reconciliation. Her passion and life-goal is to provide food, education, and economic development opportunities for people throughout the world, particularly the oppressed and the poor. This passion arises out of her belief that as a Christian she is called to walk in love with all peoples of all religions and cultures in a form that honors the dignity and uniqueness of all human beings as children of God and invites them into, and helps make possible, a life of material and spiritual abundance.
Jack McGehee, Co-Founder
Jack McGehee founded Together in Hope with Diane McGehee after visiting the hostile northern Gulu province of Uganda, Africa where he talked to Archbishop Odama who risked his life to negotiate the cease fire with militant rebels who killed nearly an entire generation of innocent civilians. Jack McGehee currently serves as an attorney in Houston, Texas.
